"My family has trusted this State Farm office for years. Our homes, vehicles, life insurance—virtually everything we have needed insured—has gone through this office. That is why my recent experience with Wanda Muñoz, the office manager, was so upsetting and unacceptable.

I called regarding my retired father’s life insurance policy. He moved out of state, lives on a fixed income, and found more affordable life insurance through his new local State Farm office. We simply wanted the status of his cancellation and the refund we were told he would receive due to the time it took to process.

Wanda was dismissive, rude, and disrespectful. I eventually asked to speak with Carol Cruz, who has ALWAYS been a sweetheart—professional, patient, and willing to go the extra mile for our family.

While transferring me, Wanda apparently put the phone down without muting it, and everyone in the room with me heard what I considered an extremely disrespectful, profanity-filled remark. I was shocked. Thankfully, I was within walking distance and went directly to the office to ask if she would repeat to my face what had just been said when she thought I couldn’t hear her.

The interaction in person was even more disappointing. The cancellation Wanda initially said she never received somehow appeared once I arrived at the office. She then told us my father would not be refunded for July and would also be charged for August, despite already having replacement State Farm life insurance.

For a retired person on a fixed income, this money matters.

What makes this especially sad is remembering the incredible standard of customer service Mrs. Axia established at this office. Carol Cruz continues that legacy beautifully. Seeing the office manager sitting at Mrs. Axia’s former desk while displaying this level of unprofessionalism—and with a vape openly sitting on the desk—was incredibly disappointing.

My complaint is not against State Farm or the other wonderful employees here. It is specifically about Wanda Muñoz’s handling of this situation and treatment of a longtime customer and his family.

After years of loyalty, my father deserved better. I sincerely hope Dave Carrubba and State Farm review the cancellation, the premiums being charged, and how customers are spoken about when an employee believes they cannot hear them.

Years of loyalty can be earned through great service, but unfortunately, it can be damaged in a single interaction."
